Why I Don't Write to Quit My 9–5
I'm using my 9–5 for inspiration to write instead. This is how.
Hunting down the gold mine is only pushing you away from it.
You make a lot of mistakes:
get-rich-quick schemes
buying tons of clickbaity digital courses
investing ions of time doing things the wrong way
And building quite a pile of knowledge behind.
I was trying to find an alternative income on the Internet since 2010. Everything there is, I’ve tried it. I rose and fell several times. But my 9–5 was by my side all the way through.
For that reason, I loved it even when I hated it.
But all that time, it worked for me. Yes, it paid the bills, but it also did something else…
It forged me as the person I am today.
It gave me everything I needed to do it by myself:
the business knowledge
the sales and marketing
the tech and finance
the leadership and people
It prepared me for the moment when it was time.
And this time is now.
Now is the first time I feel I’m doing something meaningful online.
Now it is my inspiration to write on the internet.
Now it is fueling my writing.
Why?
Because of two main reasons:
I’m loving what I do at my 9–5
I’m writing for the love of writing
Not for the money.
See the paradox? When you stop looking into the money, you start making the money.
How?
I chose a moment when money was not the pressure.
For one year I researched successful creators online to understand what’s the “secret sauce”. Just when I gained enough confidence, I started writing.
And it started happening.
What’s the secret ingredient?
People.
And their problems to be precise.
All you need is to focus on them, not you.
See, when you’re up for the money, you don’t see other people’s problems. You only see yours.
Other people’s problems are the opportunities. They are your gold mine.
Did you know that the greatest salespeople don’t sell? They solve client’s problems.
If you know how to solve just one problem, you can build a business empire around it.
Quietly.
Slowly.
One article at a time.
And before you know it, you’re free to leave your 9–5.
But you won’t want it.
Why?
Because it’s full of people’s problems.
Read that again: it’s full of people’s problems. The source of your online business. The foundation of your online empire.
So that’s why I don’t write to quit my 9–5.
And that’s how I use my 9–5 for inspiration to write.
How about you?
