Ladies, I watched this video, and gosh, it had me glued for the entire presentation. I loved everything you all said. So true and to the point. I mentally took some notes that I am going to try for my own Substack. Yana, you give fantastic advice, you always keep it 100, as we say here. Kathy, you always keep it real, friend, which is what I love about you and your Substack. I tell people if you want to get your health on track and want to treat the root issue, you need to check out my gal Kathleen on Transform to Wellness. You know, Kathy, we have had many discussions about my health with my Diabetes, and I do think a lot of these doctors would love to keep you on pills forever. I remember asking my doctor about getting me off Metformin. I have heard tons of bad stuff about it he said, "Bill, no, it does work." Sorry, TMI, but I just want to say I know once I get on the bandwagon with you, Kathy, you will help me get back on track. You talk the talk and walk the walk, as they say. Sorry for the novel, but you know I'm a writer, sometimes it just spills out. At any rate, ladies, I just love you both. I wish you both many, many, many blessings.
Research tends to differ with what I've seen and it'll show that metformin does not really have a negative effect on memory or anything. I can just base it on my experience with it now statin drugs. They do have the research and it is proven that they affect memory and can cause dementia. Some labs to check would be test B12, methylmalonic acid (MMA), and homocysteine. Metformin can lower B12 levels, but soak in other things. When it does it lowers the absorption of B12 in the gut so therefore the levels can drop.
Yeah I am on one of those statin drugs too. Rosavastatin. I assume that is one of them. Yeah we will definitely be in touch my friend. I need to get a handle on things for sure. :) :)
you're absolutely right Bill and I stopped my stepfather's metformin, and his memory actually started coming back and he didn't have the side effects and it didn't change anything in his labs. I've helped people reverse type two diabetes. The only thing is that they need to be compliant. Thank you for the kind words about our conversation. Yes, she and I always have interesting conversations. There's no doubt about that 😉
Yes, I agree that this Metformin must do something to the mind. I have been taking it for about ten years now, and my memory is having challenges. It is crazy at 54, I forget things if I don't write them down, which was never a problem I had. There are things I say I will do, and then guess what, if it's not written down, then it is lost in the sauce. You know I like my doctor, and he helped me immensely when out on my medical leave last summer, but some of the things he wants me to take, like this Metformin, make me question some things. Also, do you think Metformin contributes to Alzheimer's or Dementia? My Aunt, who has been a type 2 diabetic since her son was born, and she has been taking metformin, I'm pretty sure longer than I, as she's had Diabetes longer. Now she has dementia. I don't understand any of that when she has been so active. But I figured I would ask. If it does, I don't want to wind up that way. The condition already runs in our family, and I don't want to give it any help. My Aunt is only 67, which I feel is extremely young to have it. When I talk about it, it just makes me so saddened. Thanks for sharing your insight, Kathy. Fantastic post, friend. :)
thank you, Dr. Yildiz. I came to Substack in late July of last year and met Yana September 8th, became a VIP member and we've worked together ever since. We have this saying between us which is, Iron Sharpens Iron. We have a mutual professional respect for each other, and I consider her not only a mentor but a friend.
Yana, I thoroughly enjoyed our conversation, and I think we spoke about some really important things that people need to hear.
Thank you so much for this opportunity and if you’re a writer on Substack, I highly recommend you subscribe to her publication and personally I think VIP is the obvious way to go.
She offers tremendous value for paid subscribers too, so if you can’t fit the bill for whatever reason don’t let that stop you and join as a paid subscriber.
You won’t regret it- you have my word on that! 💯🙏🔥
Oh, I loved this session too. It was so deep and also energising and yes, we did speak about tough and important things. I hope it resonates with more people. Thank you so much Kathleen!
