I reached 500 paid subscribers. Here's the exact playbook every new Substacker needs - the 5 part strategy how to grow on Substack and the things nobody tells you (but you need to know)
Wow nice piece. I have notes on automation and many things like a standard CTA callouts for free vs paid and so on. I can go from my local PC to Substack draft programmatically and my social media is also automated. I seem to be plateauing at 1630 free subs and 40 paid. I do most but not all of what you suggest. I have been writing seriously and monetized for 5-6 months. I even built a subscriber churn analysis tool. What do you think I could be better?
Two things - because I see two problems: 1: growth of new subs - do you engage and stay active on the platform? It helps at any stage of growth, I'd say it's a must. 2: conversion - do you have an automated sequence that promotes your paid tier or do you do that manually every month?
Hi Yana, yes I setup personalized emails to go out when people subscribe. I try to comment on other columns and notes, yes. I have even tried to write whole posts to my most active readers and targeted them only in email blasts, that looks like substack, but I ran it not substack. There is a lot of analytics you can build if you download your subscriber list every couple days and also your posts data.
How consistent were you on that engagement part? You say you tried, but this only works when you stay on it. Also, what do these analytics say? Usually, all of the answers are in the data
