I hope so, I think they will do something completely different. After all we have paid subscriptions which is not the case on social media, so we as the main drivers of the content, should play a role
Honestly, if I have to mentally filter out ads on substack like I have to on Facebook, I'll be taking my newsletter and subscribers elsewhere. Sure there are a lot of benefits, and I may stick around solely to promote my books, but I'll no longer browse or engage or subscribe to new people. It'll be just another drain on my already stretched resources to filter the crap out. And let's be real, most ads will be for crap. And judging from the amount of people I see able to relax here currently without that draining requirement, I doubt I'll be the only one.
Hopefully Substack doesn't turn into Facebook. It's so painful to be on that site now since it's 95% ads.
