Today I’m gonna show you how to turn your Notes into carousel images and videos for TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and X and automatically post them there.

I’ve implemented this for myself and here are my first engagement results on TikTok:

• 38 likes

• 14 saves

And here’s how my LinkedIn stats look since I implemented the automations I showed you in the LABs:

I see similar results on the other social media platforms. Provided that I do this with zero effort, I’m more than happy with the result.

But still a lot of Substackers are not taking advantage of Notes.

And a few have figured how Notes work for your growth beyond Substack.

If you could only repost them to other social media platforms…

I’ve done this experiment and I’ve seen the potential. It’s huge.

Here’s my traffic stats from social sources, just to give you a taste of what’s possible:

You can re-post them directly, or you can use AI to adapt them to the language of the platform.

But who has that time?!

If only we could do that automatically!

With emails it’s easy:

Since Substack doesn’t offer public API, I had to figure out how to automatically turn my Substack emails into social media posts. It took me a while, but I found a workaround that works flawlessly.

Truth is, you can take your posts from multiple places, for example:

• the RSS (just type in the browser [your_domain]/feed and you’ll see it - not perfect but it works), or

• your emails, as Substack sends you an email every time you post.

But what about Notes?

It’s a pain.

I’ve searched for ways to do that and there’s none.

No email - you don’t get your published notes on your email.

No official RSS (and the unofficial DIY options simply don’t work, as the Notes feed is dynamic).

Just expensive scraping services I’m not comfortable using (take Apify for example).

I was struggling for weeks.

But not anymore.

I finally made it!

And today I’m enabling it for you.

Introducing the CREATIVETECH HUB custom app for make.com

I created my own app in make.com that gets the last 20 published Notes from your Substack profile.

So now I can get these 20 Notes and do whatever I want with them with make automations:

• repost them directly on X, LinkedIn, Threads, and Bluesky (like the example below). Regularly, at the best times to post on each platform.

• or feed them into an AI agent and repurpose them for Facebook for example

• or turn them into visuals for Pinterest and Instagram

• or even create a short talking head video with my digital clone in HeyGen and use it for YouTube shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels

• or ALL of the above

That’s the type of content scale I needed to have.

And now I made it possible for myself, and of course for all of my paid members.

Here’s how to use it.

What’s the CREATIVETECH HUB custom app in make.com

It is a custom app, that collects the last 20 Notes you have posted on your profile using the unofficial (but working) Substack API calls for Notes.

It collects public data, no need to use login credentials.

In order for it to work, you need to:

• Have published Notes

• Have enabled your Notes to be visible on your publication

It will collect all your data in your Notes (text, images), which you can then use for your automations.

How to use the CREATIVETECH HUB custom app in make.com

It’s available to all paid members in the Unplugged community. If you’re not a paid member, now would be the best time to do it:

You’ll need to use the email you subscribed as a paid member to Unplugged.

Install the app:

The app is not yet published, you’ll have to install it manually following two simple steps:

1. Follow this link: the CREATIVETECH HUB custom app. You’ll see this screen after you log in to make.com:

   

2. Click “Install”, you’ll see this screen:

   

3. Select your organization and click “Install”. That’s it, now you should be able to select it in a make.com scenario.

Use the app

In order to use it, you’ll have to create a connection using the email you used to become a paying member to Unplugged.

If you become a paid member now, you’ll be able to authenticate in about 1-2 hours.

You’ll see a screen like this:

Once you establish a connection, you’ll need your Substack username - the same one which acts as a subdomain to your Substack, in my case: yanagy (as in yanagy.substack.com). You can also see it in your profile under your name. Do not add the “@” symbol in front of it.

Place it in the second field of the custom app, like this:

In order for this to work, you’ll need to enable Notes to be visible on your publication. You can do so in Dashboard → Website → Navigation bar links:

That’s it!

Now you can run it once to test it. It should take your last 20 Notes, which you can use to build your scenarios in Make.

HOW to create an AI Agent that takes your Substack post and turns it into a social media post, which actually sounds like you.

One that you can comfortably post under your name.

That was my struggle for a while.

It was easy for me with my custom GPTs, but when in comes to automations where I use OpenAI APIs, it’s a totally different game.

Yet, I did it.

And I’m sharing it with you today.

What this Agent does:

We will create an AI agent in make.com. You can call it in ANY automation workflow, as a separate node.

What it does:

• It takes your Substack post

• Turns it into a post suitable for X

• Writes in your tone, voice and style

It’s much easier to use these Agents in automations, than using directly the AI models, when you have a system prompt that is the same every time.

You can create as many agents as you wish, for different purposes, just tweak the prompt.

Prerequisites:

We’re going to create an Agent with OpenAI. What you need:

• Paid ChatGPT account

• Paid make.com account

• Enabled developer account (https://platform.openai.com)

• Enabled billing on this developer account with money topped up (https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/billing/overview)

• Enabled API keys (https://platform.openai.com/api-keys)

• Your organization ID (https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/general)

• Verify your organization - you’ll be asked for a simple KYC process (https://platform.openai.com/settings/organization/general)

It’s a very boring automation. It turns my Substack posts into short-form content for X. Automatically formats them. And posts them to X.

That’s it.

And it works better than half the things most writers waste their mornings on.

I’ve been running this for months. It’s been bringing me new subscribers from X, some of them even paid. And all of it happens in the background, without me lifting a finger.

Let’s walk through it.

What this automation does

Here’s what I built:

• Every time I publish a new post on Substack

• The automation picks it up

• Sends it through a trained AI agent

• The agent slices it into 3 short-form posts

• Formats them into X-style posts

• And publishes them to X

No scheduling. No manual repurposing. No wasted time posting.

It just works.

And while this example only runs on X, you can adapt the same logic to any platform - which is what I’m gonna cover in the LABS. I’m already doing it with Threads, BlueSky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, even YouTube scripts and Substack Notes.

The system is scalable.

This one is just the simplest starting point.

The problem with Substack: no API

We all know this…

Substack doesn’t have an official API.

So if you want to do anything with your posts (automate, repurpose, cross-post), you have to use workarounds.

My first version?

It was manual. I copied the post into a spreadsheet. The automation pulled from there.

It worked. But still time-consuming. And with my 9-5 it’s a struggle.

The second version?

I tried using RSS feeds. It can work if your posts are all public. But if you’re also writing paid posts like I do, RSS doesn’t give you full access.

Eventually, I found the one way that works.

The workaround: Gmail

When you publish a new post, Substack emails it to your inbox.

And that email? It includes the full content, even for paid posts.

So here’s what I did:

1. I created a Gmail filter

2. All Substack post emails get labeled (mine’s called “Unplugged”)

3. The automation checks for unread emails with that label

4. When it finds one, it pulls the full text

5. And passes it to the AI agent

No spreadsheets.

No RSS.

No extra steps.

You could use this exact same setup today.

The platform I use: make.com

I built the whole thing on make.com. And no, this isn’t sponsored, I just tried every other tool and they all either:

• threw errors

• required coding

• or made me want to quit my life and live in the forest

Make is visual. It’s flexible. It has color-coded modules. And most importantly - it works.

You don’t need to be technical to use it. You just need a little curiosity and a template to start from.

That’s why I’m giving you mine (link at the end of the post).

The AI Agent: behind the scenes

Once the email is pulled, I run it through a custom-trained AI agent I built on top of ChatGPT.

This agent follows the same structure I use in my Viral Notes Writing System.

That’s the system that’s been generating viral notes for me (and for a lot of paid members in my Unplugged community too).

Short-form writing has its own laws.

But they’re not platform-specific.

Hooks are hooks. Friction is friction. Doesn’t matter whether it’s for X, Threads, or a Substack note.

I used data to train the agent to know how to:

• Break down the post

• Identify 3 angles

• Write 3 posts in the correct structure

• Format them for X

• Return them clean and ready to publish

And it does publish them.

Automatically.
